About the Author
Elmore Leonard wrote more than forty books during his long career, including the bestsellers Raylan, Tishomingo Blues, Be Cool, Get Shorty, and Rum Punch, as well as the acclaimed collection When the Women Come Out to Dance, which was a New York Times Notable Book. Many of his books have been made into movies, including Get Shorty and Out of Sight. The short story "Fire in the Hole," and three books, including Raylan, were the basis for the FX hit show Justified. Leonard received the Lifetime Achievement Award from PEN USA and the Grand Master Award from the Mystery Writers of America. He died in 2013.

Interesting but lacking

The Moonshine War was one of the earliest non-cartoon movies I can remember going to see at the local theater. Little did I know, that the lanky kid playing Son Martin would go on to star in one of my favorite TV shows (MASH). I remember being shocked at the graphic (to me) violence and blood. Years later I found out it was Alan Alda and the sheriff was Will Geer. Finding the actual book when I was looking for reading material cor my Kindle, was something I was looking forward to reading. While it's an interesting book and moves along at a quick pace...it just seems to be missing something. It's more like a news report about a few days happenings. I wanted deeper characters and more insight to their back story.
Like the beer commercial: "great taste, less filling". It just doesn't satisfy.
