Not the first six Spenser Novels

Actually, they are numbers 16-21 of the series. If these are the books in which you're interested, fine. If you want to start at the beginning of the series and watch the introduction and development of the characters, however, you will be sorely disappointed. In my opinion, it would be a significant mistake to start in the middle of the series instead of at the beginning, with "The Godwulf Manuscript."

Books are great! Format for collected kindle is kind of iffy.

I've been hoping that Amazon would do this for a while. I love the idea of buying bundles of my favorite author's books for a lower price. Robert B. Parker is one of my favorite writers so if I was just rating the books themselves the rating would be 4-5 stars.
But it's important to note that when the collection downloaded to my iPad's Kindle App, the books are bound together as one volume. There is a table of contents, but only in order of the books. So the table of contents for the first book is easily accessible, but you have to scroll through the pages to get to the tables of contents for the other five books.
This is an easy fix, as I simply go to the last chapter of the first book, flip a few pages until I reach the table of contents for the next book, and then create a bookmark. But an easier fix would be for Amazon to do it for me. Simply add a table of contents that takes you directly to the beginning or table of contents for each book.
Still a good value though!
Addendum: Just checked again and there is an option to go to the individual books. The bookmark table of contents gets you there. Upped to four stars. Would be better to get bundle price with six individual downloads.

here's a good mid-stream place to start

IF you've never read a Spencer novel, here's a good mid-stream place to start. IF you have, relive these stories again and reaquaint yourself with Spencer, his love Susan, Quirk and Belson of the Boston Homicide squad, the various thugs and pals he knows and works with/against/alongside, and of course the inimitable Hawk, the best sidekick a detective ever had. The only annoying thing about these when you get the kindle package is that the usual progress markers for chapter/page/location/time-left are for the ENTIRE collection of six books, not any one, so you really have no idea how far along you are until you get near the end of the last one...but the GOOD news is, you wont' care because the stories take you away. Enjoy!
