About the Author
HARRY GRIFFITHS is Professor of Radiology, University of Florida, Jacksonville, Florida, USA. Dr. Griffiths received his M.D. from Guy’s School of Medicine, London, UK. Throughout his career, Dr. Griffiths has traveled the world as a visiting professor, teaching in Sweden, Norway, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Singapore, and Hong Kong. He has been given honorary fellowships to both the Royal Australasian Radiological Society and Finnish Radiological Society. Dr. Griffiths’s specialty is in diagnostic radiology, and his primary interests include topics such as MRI, tumors, Metabolic Bone Disease (MBD), and sports medicine. He has contributed to over 200 publications on radiological and orthopedic case studies and research.

$249-- worst money you'll ever spend?

What a very, very sad book this is. Hundreds of images, average size about 2 x 2 inches, many smaller. Apparent grey scale level of the pictures maybe eight levels, some less. Paper quality is not the clay coated you would expect for a volume at this price. The whole book has the feel and image quality of a xerographic copy of a text from about maybe 30 years ago. You may, if you purchase this text, struggle like I have on so many of the images, to see what the captions suggest you should see. Example, on page 170, Figure one the text, "Conradi's syndrome. Note the multiple growth centers in the femoral heads." White contours suggest to a radiologist that this is an image of the pelvis. I cannot even see the femurs let alone any detail. Same page, and again this is just another example on nearly every page, "Note the stippled epiphyses in (A) the humeral heads and (B) the femoral heads and the dysplastic hip." Problem--neither the humeral heads nor the femoral heads are visible on the images that are about 2-4 levels of grey scale and about 1.5 x 1.5 inches in size.
In the author's preface, Dr. Griffiths says, "This book is based on over 35 years of being involved with academic musculoskeletal (MSK) radiology." Considering that statement and considering the book, a radiologist might weep. 35 years and this is the product?
