"Fargo's mood went from prickley to sour;overconfidence killed more men than stupidity".
By Jerry Guild
Fargo is at home in the mountains, canyons, deserts and plains;but in the swamps of eastern Texas,he is far removed from his comfort zone,to say the least. He has learned to contend with Grizzlys,Rattlesnakes,Sidewinders,Mountain Lions and just about every Indian tribe in the Old West. However,Alligators,Cottonmouths,Panthers, Quicksand and a secretive tribe of Kilatku, who live deep in the Archaletta Swamp, are an entirely different matter.
He has agreed to lead a party of Government characters into the swamp to make it secure for a Survey party .At the little settlement of Suttree,s Landing,at the edge of the swamp, they meet up with some of the most despicable locals, who are suspicious and even hateful of outsiders. They warn Fargo and all;that they have no business in the swamp and that if the alligators and snakes don't kill them, the Kilatku, who are canibals, and will put them in their pot.Others have ventured into the swamp;but they never return.
A couple of locals agree to join the party of Major Davenport, some soldiers, the beautiful, naive, determined Clemintine Purdy, with the Office of Indian Affairs and Fargo.
This whole expedition ends up with some of the most vicious scenes, all kinds of sudden deaths, people who can't be trusted, and a huge surprise when they finally reach the Indian camp.Fargo gets staked to the ground and it is only a matter whether a panther or an alligator will devour him while his armed captives watch nearby to witness his demise. Then there is Fargo's involvement with a Kilatku woman who has decided that Fargo is now married to her.
It's going to take all of Fargo's skills, determination and maybe a heap of luck to get out of these predicaments.
This is sure a different adventure for Fargo;and be sure it'll be a long time before he wants to visit a swamp again.

Skye Stokes Three Fires
By SAMUEL M. MILLIGAN
This is an excellent mix of action, adventure, eroticism, bravery and cold-bloodied killing on the part of Mr. Sharpe's protagionist, Skye Fargo. The action is non-stop from beginning to end. Although the adventrous plot seemed a waste of government funds, it drove the cast of characters deep into the Archaletta Swamp to make peace with the Kilatku and survey the swamp. The tension was torqued up with each chapter.
Skye's close shaves with death and his usual antics with the hooker of Sutree's Landing, the last of the Kilatku women, and his seductive quest of General Powell's niece kept me turning pages.
The ending was great with promise to a successful end to Skye's quest to seduce Clementine.

This book was purchased as a gift, so I never actually read it. However, the person who received the book as a gift was a big fan of the Trailsman series, so I assume it was up to snuff.
