The Rhythm of Memory

Alyson Richman has an extraordinary ability to make you feel like you are present to observe first hand the richness of the characters and to share their experiences in a most vivid fashion. As I had difficulty putting down Ms. Richman's Lost Wife, I had the same emotional response with Rhythm of Memory anxious to know what would happen next. The story is intense and describes pain and suffering that brings tears to your eyes and at the same time the beauty of two exceptional love stories. Well done Ms. Richman, looking forward to your future work. The Rhythm of Memory

Richman doesn't disappoint

Richman is a talented storyteller. I am fast becoming an avid reader of her books regardless of the subject. This novel tells an intricate story of two families affected by political regimes and she manages the integration well despite the sizable time difference. Very good book but not as good as The Lost Wife.

I particularly liked the shifts between times, locals and characters. It not only enabled me to put the story in historical context but to not become overwhelmingly emotionally involved. It was very difficult to put this book down.
