Heartwarming Americana

You likely know & like Bob Dotson from the Today Show. Here he shares with us his collection of tales about ordinary Americans, many of whom he met and talked with. Each is given only a few pages, but that's enough to get you sucked in to their personal tales of Life in America.
Among the tales included is a Oregonian lumber mill operator who reached into his own pocket to hand out a scholarship for any local who needed it to go to college, the last survivor of Buffalo Bill's Will West Show, a retired MD who not only gave unselfishly of his own time, but reached out to other retired medial professionals to open a free clinic, the woman who was rescued from a burning car by a man who had no arms, thus he rescued her with his feet!
In many ways, this *IS* America. Wonderful stories.
These stories are not only heartwarming but also many times inspiring. You might get a chuckle or two, also.
Best taken in small doses, not read all at once. This would be a wonderful book to read a chapter or two before bed.

Simply Americana

Mr. Dotson has taken his experiences of more than 40 years and placed them into a book that should be required reading in high school. The lessons he has put there are lessons that everyone can understand, and should embrace. There are many in the book that don't recognize that they are heros, that just consider what they have done as simply being "necessary". It is unfortunate that more people don't recognize what is "necessary" is far different than "me".
I hope this becomes a best seller and sells by the millions - it can't be distributed widely enough in my opinion. Great read. Enjoyable. Makes one believe there is hope for mankind, even if that hope is slim.

Stories with a lift

I liked the book because it redeemed my faith in humankind. We rarely hear all of the good being done by ordinary folks. This collection of stories allows room for all kinds of people who do admirable things.
