PreSchool-Grade 2—Tinka, a golden retriever, is "a joy dog,/a boy's dog,/a chews-a-brand-new-toy dog." She loves her boy and doesn't like being left at home when he boards a bus on a fall morning. When Mom isn't looking, the "spring-and-sprint-and-streak dog" races to school, runs through the halls causing mayhem, and ends up finding her boy in his classroom. Although she makes the teacher unhappy by messing up the room, the students are delighted by Tinka's presence and find that the pup loves a read-aloud. In the end, she's "a please-come-every-day dog." Bowers's vivid acrylic illustrations are full of expression, from the pup peeking through a screen door while waiting to make her move to the smiling children and teacher waving good-bye at the end of the day. About the Author
Author Deborah Heiligman is the author of a number of highly praised nonfiction children’s books, including High Hopes: A Photobiography of John F. Kennedy (named a Top Ten JFK Pick by BookSense). She and her husband live and write in New York City.
Illustrator Tim Bowers has illustrated more than twenty children’s books, many of them about dogs. Among his most popular titles are the Little Whistle books by Cynthia Rylant and Sometimes I Wonder If Poodles Like Noodles by Laura Numeroff. Tim and his family live in Granville, Ohio.

Great Kid's Book

I bought this book for my daughter after she found it at the library and she loved it. It's catchy little rhymes and funny story kept my daughter interested and laughing time after time.

The story grabbed our 4 year old grandson's attention. He was distracted and I started reading it to him and it didn't take long and he was focused on having the book read to him.

My grandaughter loves this book. We read it together every time she comes over. I highly recommend it. We got the ipad version and she really enjoys that for a change.
